‘08 Silverado Z71 5.3 4x4 with 72,000 miles for $18,000. Any red flags from the truck?
It has the wrong wheels and a fugly truck cap, but besides that. Everything looks to be in order.

Buy it. Just pull the trigger. V8, Z71, 4WD. Relatively low miles, decent price. You can sell those rims (and the bed cap) and buy different OEM ones. My granddad bought an ‘09 new optioned basically the same mechanically and hasn’t had any problems with it as far as I know. Plus the 5.3 sounds great.

If you must get the 900 over the 800, at least get the GMC, as they are slightly better put together. Plus, you can go factory plus and put these on:

If you bought it would you take the air dam off? Would you put a Lift Kit on it?

Would you do anything else to it?

Custom sound system probably.

I don’t think the cap looks bad, actually. Seems like a decent truck for the coin.

Yes, the fact that it isn’t a Lincoln Blackwood.

Have a mechanic check it first and ensure it’s had its services: Both differentials (Z71), transmission fluid, coils and plugs, etc. See if a mechanic will hook up a scan too and test all functions, especially the thermostat, fans, etc. Have the A/C lines checked for leaks and that the compressor is functional.

Similar price, lower miles, slightly older, Toyota reliability:

2WD, if that is important to OP.

Fair point. I was looking at the 3 CarMaxes nearest Alexandria, so limited selection for full-size trucks under $20K.

Nope. Too old, 2wd and I hate the way those look.
